Different Types of Letter Writing

One of the most effective ways of communication is through LETTER WRITING. There are different types of letters. There are business or formal letters and the informal letters. Our thoughts, ideas, feelings or gratitude are best described through letter writing. Business letters are usually done for formal occasions or for some business concerns. Some examples of letters written for business purposes are resignation letters, endorsement letters, referral letters, etc. On the other hand, letters can also be personalized depending on how you feel. Some of these informal letters are love letters, thank you letters, letter extending one’s apology, etc. Letters should consist of a writer and of course, a reader. Letter writing also follows a basic guideline for this to be an effective mode of communication. Its content should have the date when it is written, opening clause such as “to whom it may concern, to my Uncle, etc.; greetings such as “Hello! How are you?” body of the letter which is the main concern why you wrote the letter and the ending clause such as “sincerely yours, respectfully yours, etc”. Letters are purposely done to extend such intention to which the letter is addressed. Since it is a tool for communication, one should make sure that a letter is brief and direct to the point so that the message that a person would like to express will be understood. So, if you were to be asked, what letter do you prefer to make & be grateful to receive?
